w/purpose imagined a temporary yet highly public outdoor installation that combines two of their offices favorite elements – light and motion. Our  studio wanted to celebrate the biodiversity of the waterway by designing a method to “illuminate” or draw attention to a unique cast of characters in our world and in our city – Bugs. Our  studio wanted to celebrate the biodiversity of the waterway by designing a method to “illuminate” or draw attention to a unique cast of characters – Bugs. 100 crafted acrylic invertebrates will transform the appearance of an existing urban infrastructure element (metal guard rail) as platform to share a larger narrative about the magic of nature, insects, and of course the star of our show – the Lighting Bugs. (Newly inducted State of Indiana Insect). From Bee’s to Hornets – all of these pollinators have been part of our lives in one way or another. Their magnet base and unique design make them an ideal vehicle for expanding the pop up art story in Indianapolis. Over time, we hope our tiny friends will get distributed throughout the city and eventually be reunited through social media, geo-tagging, and clever marketing w/purpose is a creative design studio curious about our built environment and its future. For us, this means our neighborhoods and the interrelationships between art, architecture, landscape, and our public spaces.
